MIMA’s Debra Johansen Achieves Board Certification

Debra Johansen, MBA, CMPE, Chief Operations Administrator at MIMA, has earned the professional designation of Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) from the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE). Johansen has been employed with MIMA since 1996 and has 25 years of experience in healthcare administration. The designation of CMPE demonstrates that Johansen has achieved board certification in medical practice management. ACMPE certifies an individual’s professional competence when she passes rigorous essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management skills sets. These include financial management, governance and organizational dynamics, business and clinical operations and professional responsibility.

The individual must also complete a presentation requirement and earn a minimum of 50 continuing education credit hours.

As Chief Operations Administrator, Debra Johansen is responsible for physician clinical practices as well as quality initiatives, health information management, and new product line development. “It is truly an honor to earn the ACMPE certification as it reflects the cumulative experiences and opportunities I have had working in healthcare.”

Wuesthoff Health System Recognized For Participation In Continuous Quality Improvement Program

FMQAI, the Medicare Quality Improvement Organization for Florida, recently presented its Hospital Participation Certificate to Wuesthoff Health System for participating in multiple national projects designed to improve the quality of health care of Medicare beneficiaries.

One of only sixty-one hospitals (out of 226) in the state of Florida to receive this certificate, Wuesthoff was recognized for the initiatives taken to implement quality improvement interventions, establish internal infrastructures for continuous quality improvement, and the implementation of system changes.

“We commend all the hospitals that participated with FMQAI and applaud their dedication to improving the consistency of providing the right care to every person every time,” said Gladys Worlds, FMQAI Hospital Quality Improvement Project Director. “These efforts demonstrate an improvement in the rate of compliance on clinical measures which ultimately reflect improvements in the care provided to patients.”

Ashley Furniture HomeStore and Wuesthoff Heart Center Partner for Heart Health

Ashley Furniture HomeStore, 4360 W. New Haven Ave. in Melbourne, and Wuesthoff Heart Center are partnering to raise Heart Health awareness during the month of February. In hopes of better educating the community on cardiac disease and the importance of proactive heart screenings, Ashley Furniture HomeStore, in partnership with Wuesthoff Heart Center will donate free heart screenings with every furniture purchase during the month of February. Each heart screening will give a personalized 12 page report including height, weight, and body fat analysis, along with cholesterol, glucose, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides data.

Rich Stevens, 30 year local furniture entrepreneur and owner of Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Melbourne, would like the Brevard community to take Heart Health month as serious as he and his family do. Recently, Stevens was hospitalized with cardiac issues and ultimately underwent triple bypass surgery. Wuesthoff Health System annually recognizes February as Heart Health month, and last year alone gave away more than 3,000 heart screenings to Brevard residents.

For questions, comments, or details about the ‘free’ heart screening promotion, contact Linda Bultema at bultema.linda@stevensdirect.com, or call 725-0908 ext. 1230. Screenings are limited, and only available with furniture purchases at Ashley Furniture HomeStore of Melbourne.
