studio? Need materials for that new project you have in mind?
Sell your old stuff, make space and find new inspiration at the BAM
Art Swap. An event at which artists and not-for-profit art organizations
sell surplus art supplies and older art work in a tag sale type
environment. 8:00am - 1:00pm. Location: Brevard Art Museum’s

Central Brevard Art Association (CBAA) General Meeting

“Uncommon Threads”. Internationally known textiles specialist
Dilys Blum, curator of costume and textiles at the Philadelphia
Museum of Art, presents a complimentary lecture: “From Industry to
Art: The Philadelphia Museum of Art’s Textile and Costume
Collection”. Blum presents a visually rich discussion of the museum’s
collection, one of the oldest and largest holdings of costume
and textiles in North America. Items range from Han dynasty fragments
to 18th century fashion to crazy quilts. 4:00pm. Location:
Florida Tech campus. Gleason Performing Arts Center. Reservations

A luncheon symposium on haute couture (high fashion),
surrealism and Elsa Schiaparelli. Featuring a rich exhibit of
haute couture, a gourmet meal, a silent auction and more surprises.
Internationally known textiles specialist Dilys Blum speaks at
10:30am on 20th century fashion designer, Elsa Schiaparelli (1890-
1973). Blum’s lecture is “Dressing the Surrealist Woman: Elsa
Schiaparelli and Her
Contemporaries.” The
lecture, followed by a
champagne reception
and three-course lunch,

“I Love The Piano”. The Space Coast Pops Orchestra presents

“Give Them the Farm”. This exhibit is an invitational show of
over 35 artists. 50% of proceeds from the show will be used to purchase
farm animals through World Vision for needy families. 5:30pm
– 8:00pm. Location: Fifth Avenue Art Gallery. Light refreshments.
Free and open to the public. Viewers can participate by voting for
their favorite “Farm” artwork at the opening and throughout
February. The Fifth Avenue Art Gallery is located in the historic
Olde Eau Gallie Riverfront area of Melbourne, across the street from

“Friends and Faux”. Gorgeous reproductions dubbed are the
work of a group of local painters known as Pieces of Eight. A reasonable
facsimile of many of the best known pieces in the world can
be seen at the Suntree Cafe located at 718 South Patrick Drive in
Satellite Beach. Each piece is accompanied by a tag that explains a
bit about the artist and when it was originally painted. Members of
Pieces of Eight include Jini James, Carmen Beecher, Cindy Michaud,
Suzanne Peiffer, Carol Schiff, Donna Vines and Mary Warnick. 15%
of art sales will be donated to the troops serving in Iraq and
Afganistan through the Palm Shores “Support the troops” fund. For

“Angeles de la Habana – The Masterful Photography of
Eduardo and Orlando Garcia”. Location: Cuba! Gallery of Fine

Monday-Saturday 11:00am to 6:00pm. “Angels in Havana” is a
series of 20 sepia-tone images that recreates the magic of the architecture,
the streets, the people and spirits of Havana. Twenty-nine
year old twin brothers, Eduardo and Orlando who live in Havana,
share a traditional film camera, take the pulse of the city with modern
technology dissolve back and forth through time to reveal spirits
of the past…angels who have contributed chapters to the history
of Havana and who still reside there in

Melbourne Civic Theatre presents A Night on Broadway
2008. This annual music review is back by popular demand! It’s the
best of Broadway past and present. Director Jessica Cunningham
brings Broadway to life in historic downtown Melbourne as the cast
sings both classic and contemporary pieces. Performances on
Fridays and Saturdays are at 8:00pm and Sundays are at 2:00pm.

45 Seconds from Broadway. From America’s master of
Contemporary Broadway Comedy, here is another take on behind
the scenes action in the entertainment world, this time near the
heart of the theatre district. 45 Seconds from Broadway takes place
in the legendary “Polish Tea Room” on New York’s 47th Street, a
restaurant run by a Polish couple attached to a major theatre district
hotel. Here Broadway theatre personalities gather and
schmooz. Each of the play’s four scenes occurs in a consecutive
season over the course of a year. Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm,
